Lenovo Yoga series consists of convertible laptops with hinge display and ideal for professionals who need multiple form factors. The Yoga C740 packs quality specs and goes head to head with some of the best convertibles. In fact, it is one of the best touchscreen laptops, thanks to a 1080p FHD panel.
The specs on Lenovo Yoga C740 are future-proof, including 10th generation i5-10210U processor, 256GB SSD storage and a speedy 8GB RAM. Additionally, there is a long-lasting battery that can keep you in touch with your business and social media life all day long. All these features make the Yoga C740 an economical alternative of Apple’s new MacBook Air.
But can we expect the same dazzling performance as other Lenovo Yoga series laptops? Does its 14-inch display have what it takes to be among the best touchscreen laptops? To evaluate its performance and specs, we have done a comprehensive review on Lenovo Yoga C740.

Design
Lenovo laptops are known for their sleek, nifty designs that suit professionals and go well within an office environment. The Yoga C740 comes in silver-grey colour with a robust aluminium chassis that feels sturdy. The device weighs around 3.09lbs (1.4kg) and is considerably heavy than other devices in the Lenovo Yoga series.
Overall, this is a decent design for a 14-inch convertible that gives Lenovo Yoga C740 looks of an Ultrabook. For a budget 2-in-1 laptop, this is comparatively a better chassis design than most convertible laptops. The lid is easy to lift with a single hand, while its hinges offer suitable resistance.
The hinges rotate up to 360 degrees and you can use it as a standard laptop, tablet or in tent mode. However, we noticed a bit of flex in the keyboard deck and screen, but you won’t notice it. On the side of the keyboard, you’ll find speakers that produce quality sound.
Display
The display is its best feature that makes it one of the best touchscreen laptops. This is a 14-inch wide IPS display with a 1080p FHD panel that delivers extraordinary performance. We found the contrast to be good and backgrounds reasonably white, while the brightness was about 300 nits.
Thanks to the IPS panel, the touchscreen provides bright images with crisp images and details. We observed the colours to be rich and lively when we played Sonic the Hedgehog. The touchscreen is impressively responsive and responds adequately to commands.
Keyboard
The keyboard on this 2-in-1 laptop comes with backlit features and typical Lenovo touch. Its keys are arranged in HP-style while the Yoga C740 provides two levels of backlighting. We found the keys appropriately spaced with adequate key travel and capsize. This is a comfortable keyboard that is good for typing and we were able to write 76 words per minute on 10fingerstest.
Its touchpad has no buttons and does not require much force for click. The surface is smooth for gliding and taps smoothly while generating a quite but audible click. We found it responsive to commands even around the corners and were able to use multi-touch gestures, thanks to Windows precision feature.
Connectivity
Although the port selection on Lenovo Yoga C740 is future-proof, it is modest and doesn’t offer many variations. Unlike most Lenovo laptops, this one comes with very limited port options, including two Type-C USB 3.1 ports (on the right side) and only one Type-A USB 3.1 port on the left side.
Additionally, there is a 3.5mm headphone jack for audio communication on its right edge. Surprisingly, there is no HDMI output or SD card reader slot which is kind of a laydown. Furthermore, the USB-C ports lack Thunderbolt 3 connectivity which may have compensated for this weakness otherwise.
Performance
The Yoga C740 is one of those latest Lenovo laptops which are equipped with the 10th generation Core i5 CPU. It features the i5-10210U processor that offers a clock speed range between 1.6GHz to 4.2GHz. Moreover, there is an 8GB memory which we don’t often see on convertible laptops along with 256GB SSD storage.
A 1080p IPS-equipped panel that comes with the 14-inch FHD display puts it among the best touchscreen laptops. We tested its performance by opening more than a dozen Chrome tabs while working on media editing software. Whether you are an IT manager or a pro programmer, Lenovo Yoga C740 can cater to your computing needs.
We found it ultra-portable, ideal for multitasking and you can switch between apps without experiencing any lags. At its price, this is an exceptional performance by a device from Lenovo Yoga series.
Battery life
The battery is another major point which makes the Yoga C740 stand out among Lenovo convertible laptops. A 13 hours battery performance puts it among the long battery Lenovo laptops. We tested this claim and were able to secure around 12 hours of battery life in our Wi-Fi battery test.
Verdict
The Yoga C740 is an ideal pick from the Lenovo Yoga series and Lenovo laptops if you are looking for a decent convertible. A 10th generation i5 CPU, 13 hours long battery and 8GB memory is some of its advantages. It offers the display that matches the best touchscreen laptops and a lightweight design that is ideal for convertible laptops.
