As 3D printing which is also known as additive manufacturing has the great influence in the manufacturing sector, it is being adopted by many firms as well for manufacturing small parts. There are around 9 Manufacturing Technology centers (MTCs) found in UK which provide assistance to other companies to emerge with smarter technology by carrying out effective research in academic research institutes. As plastic parts are replacing the conventional metal fixtures, it is now being applied in space too.
Coming back to UK’s interest in funding for game-changing technologies in aerospace, the government is planning to organize a competition for where small firms would be taking part to introduce innovation in the 3D printing components for aerospace. The competition is worth £10m which is targeted for catering small businesses. All the interested companies can register themselves from June 2015 till September 2015.
