If you are a Mac user, everything has suddenly become more expensive! We’re seeing the Brexit effect as well as Apple’s decision to up their prices. One of the cheapest MacBook Pro’s in Apple’s latest line-up has a 13” display with 512GB storage and 16GB RAM, and costs over £2000. It’s a big jump from the £1500 MacBook Pro it’s replacing – and we’re talking about the price, not the power unfortunately. Also, the lower exchange rate between the US dollar and British pound after Brexit has made all Mac devices even more expensive.
Apple released a statement saying: “Apple suggests product prices internationally on the basis of several factors, including currency exchange rates, local import laws, business practices, taxes, and the cost of doing business. These factors vary from region to region and over time, such that international prices are not always comparable to US suggested retail prices”.
Windows have upped their game massively through the years, particularly recently with the launch of Windows 10. Microsoft has also evolved from the launch of the first Microsoft Surface tablet, to become one of the leading manufactures of Windows PC’s with the launch of the Surface Book. The Surface Book is a great option if you’re looking to swap your Mac for a Windows laptop; it’s on the same level of elegance as the MacBook Pro range, and it also comes with a detachable touchscreen.
The debate between Mac and Windows is hotter than ever with the huge increase in MacBook Pro prices, as well as the impressiveness of recent Windows devices. If you have decided to make the move, here are some tips for how you can ensure a smooth transition:
- Say Goodbye to iTunes
- Make sure your files are compatible before transferring them
- Get ready to get your game on
The debate between Mac and Windows shows no sign of cooling off anytime soon. Both operating systems have their own pros and cons; however it’s evident which one to go for if Apple’s rising prices concern you.
